Miss Mi Perth review: Asian fusion delights

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Miss Mi in Perth twice before – once when the restaurant opened, as a guest of Accor, and another time when the Australian Society of Travel Writers (of which I’m a member) hosted a lunch there.

Helmed by Filipino-born head chef Alex De Leon, Miss Mi strikes me as the type of restaurant every hotel should have. Bold. Imaginative. Its ‘elevated’ Asian Fusion menu is one of the best I’ve sampled in Perth.

Of course, as the restaurant is located within an Accor property (the stylish Novotel Perth Murray St), Accor Plus dining discounts are also valid here. For a party of two, that’s a whopping 50% off the food bill. This time, I’m visiting as a group of seven and we have two Accor Plus cards between us, so it’s still a reasonable 28.6% off.

However, the discount is just an added bonus. Pricing aside, Miss Mi is absolutely worth a visit regardless.

The Menu

Miss Mi’s menu is relatively short, but with so many tasty options to choose from, that’s not an issue. We decide to go for one of the set menus.

What’s the difference between the $75 and $89 ‘Choose Mi’ menus? You get a bigger portion overall and can have three mains to share instead of two. There is also more flexibility in requesting specific mains if you prefer.

It’s tempting, but this time we settle for the ‘Choose Mi’ set menu at $75 per person, before the discount.

‘Choose Mi’ Set Menu – $75

It doesn’t take long for a feast to make its way to our table. The set menu kicks off with three ‘small shares’, but don’t let that name fool you. Three plates of the largest grilled chicken wings I’ve set eyes on appear, accompanied by a moreish splash of spicy banana ketchup on the side. Then there’s the pandesal – a classic Filipino bread roll filled with crab meat, tiger prawn, ikura (salmon caviar) and onion chives.

Miss Mi’s signature Szechuan glaze lamb ribs are the ultimate winner for me. Sprinkled with a garlic crumb, each bite is a heavenly burst of flavours and textures. We have two dietary requirements in our group that are well catered to by the chef. One gets a serving of batata vada (battered potato dumplings) in place of the lamb ribs. The other is offered a tasty beetroot dish with chilli purée and whipped goat’s cheese to replace the pandesal crab roll.

Next up is a selection of large shares, each as a double serving for our group of seven. Today, we’re treated to the pork curry (both pork belly and leaner cuts) with grilled pineapple, kaffir and curry leaves. The other dish is Permanggang Ikan – market fish grilled in a spicy tamarind broth. This one is a bit trickier to eat, as we navigate the small bones, but the sauce packs a punch. To soak up all the saucy goodness, we also have four bowls of fried rice with roast garlic crumbs and a sous-vide egg. It’s a perfect combo.

By now, we’re quite full, but there’s still dessert to come. I love ice cream, berries and chocolate, so this next dish is almost made for me – soy ice cream, marinated strawberries, and shortbread crumble. I don’t know what the strawberries are marinated in, but it’s a bold, sweet flavour that contrasts well with the creamy ice cream and chocolate flakes.

The Accor Plus Discount

Except for when you’re dining solo (that’s a flat 25% discount), Accor Plus discounts are calculated by 100% per card divided by the number of diners.

Have one card and two people? That’s 100% divided by two, hence a 50% discount. One card for a group of five would net a 20% discount overall. In our case, we have seven people and two cards, so the discount is 200% divided by seven, which is 28.6%.

Indeed, the system added the discount without any issues. All we had to do was show our two memberships to the staff before paying the bill.

After the dining discount, the $75 set menu became $53.55 pp for our group of seven.

Important note: As of 2025, it appears Miss Mi is limiting the discount on set menus. You can still get the maximum discount with a la carte dining.

Final words

Despite this being my third visit now, I’ve still yet to try even half of the menu. I’ve enjoyed every meal at Miss Mi, and I’ll be back again soon, for sure.

The Accor Plus membership typically costs A$395, except during sales periods. But I purchased my membership while I was overseas, and the office there is happy to issue new memberships to readers at their current rate, which is roughly A$190 for the first year.

You still get the free Stay Night benefit to redeem at an Accor hotel within Asia Pacific, along with the dining discounts, Red Hot Rooms promotions and more. If you’re interested, drop me a note on the website or on my Instagram for more information.
